Once you show up at our office, we evaluate your mouth, gums, teeth, and other tissues to see if there are issues of concern that need attention.
A dental hygienist will perform the cleaning portion of the exam. During your cleaning, our hygienist will scrape off plaque and tartar from your teeth. Plaque is bacteria that sticks to teeth like a film. If plaque hardens, then it will turn into hard mineral deposits called tartar that can only be removed by our dental professionals.
Our dental hygienist will brush and floss your teeth, then complete the cleaning with a fluoride rinse.

Now our dentist can perform your checkup. During this time we will examine your teeth and gums. We will use a light and small mirror so that we are able to inspect every crevice of your mouth.
We will also perform an oral cancer screening during your exam. We will examine your head and neck for any abnormalities, such as lumps and bumps, and we will also look inside of your mouth at your gums and teeth for any spots, discolorations, or anything out of the ordinary.
